The BBC have released the first pictures from filming of Doctor Who's eighth series, which began in Cardiff this week - and although we get to see Peter Capaldi, he's not quite wearing his new outfit just yet...

Both the BBC's official picture, which features Peter and Jenna on set, and the front cover of this week's new Doctor Who Magazine, feature more familiar togs - those of the Eleventh Doctor, sans bow tie, after the regeneration in The Time of The Doctor. And as Doctor Who scribe Gary Gillatt pointed out on Twitter, once again Peter's evoking a bit of Classic Who, fanboy heart well and truly on his sleeve:

Check out the magazine cover below - DWM, featuring the magazine's first in-depth interview with Capaldi, is out on Thursday in the UK:

Location filming for Steven Moffat's first episode, directed by Ben Wheatley, began in Splott, Cardiff this morning, and will be followed by filming for Episode 2, penned by Phil Ford (The Waters of Mars, The Sarah Jane Adventures) later this month - hopefully by then, we'll get to see the new Doctor in his own threads...
