Actor Robert Vaughan has died, aged 83. Forever known as The Man From U.N.C.L.E., he also starred in Gene Rodenberry’s The Lieutenant, the western series Laramie, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s The Protectors, the Beeb’s Hustle and The A-Team. Columbo sent him to jail on at least three occasions. He even had a spell in Coronation Street.

Vaughan was one of The Magnificent Seven and reprised the role in Roger Corman’s Battle Beyond The Stars. He also appeared in Bullet and The Towering Inferno.

He had been suffering from leukemia.
