As some of you might know, my Dad isn't doing so well. His liver isn't going to last very long, and while we can get him any care he might need up here in Soviet Canuckistan, a new liver itself is kind of hard to source. They only get about one a year in his blood type up here, and he doesn't have a great chance of lasting long enough to get one.

We're looking at getting him into the wider pool of organs down south, but the cost of the surgery down there is more than a bit beyond our means. Our socialized system will likely cover some of the cost, along the lines of what it would cost them up here, but that's only a fraction of the for-profit cost.
