This is just a jumping off point for everyone else to talk. It’s an open thread (with spoilers) for the first episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, so dive in and talk about whatever you want! I don’t see any other open threads, so I’m starting this one. Minor spoilers will follow, and major spoilers will probably follow in the comments.

Oops, let me fix that lede:
Legends of Tomorrow Started in America Tonight with Rory Now Playing a Time Master Who Steals a Timeship Called The Waverider with a Holographic Indigenous Camouflage Protection Function During the Pilot and Gets the Eight Coolest Possible Companions in the Show’s Entire History All While Rory Wears a Near Replica of Ten’s Very Cool Brown Overcoat and Looks Suave as All Hell, Hair and Everything
Hey, the best writers steal, right? And joking aside, I was really blown away by this episode. Yes, a lot of Rip’s character was lifted from Doctor Who instead of the comic book version of Rip Hunter, but who can blame the creators of this show considering how well Doctor Who’s 2005 reboot worked? Once we get past that aspect, we end up with a very cool premise starring a motley group of eight B- and C-list DC characters thrown together by Rip Hunter very much in a Gail Simone “Secret Six” kind of manner, and that is a very good thing.
And, hey, it works. It works really well. The dialogue is quick and witty, the characters are three-dimensional and consist of rogues and villains as much as do-gooders and heroes. “Legends”’ fearless leader is the
Time Lord Time Master Rip Hunter who is, as it turns out, on the run from the other Time Lords Time Masters with some secrets and some questionable motivations of his own, even though he claims to have a straightforward impetus behind his actions.
There’s a lot going on here with nine main characters, one major villain, and a guest baddie of the week. Yet somehow they pull off the pilot with grace, humor, poise, fun banter, comic book-y violence, time travel, and multiple underlying character motivations and manipulations. And they somehow managed to cram all of that into a one hour pilot! That takes some very serious skill.
Those are just my initial thoughts. This is an open thread for Episode 1 of the show, so please share any and all thought and observations.
Since there was no thread for the show, not one for a spoiler-free zone nor one for a spoiler zone, I made this one. The first paragraph doesn’t spoil anything in the show so when people go to the ODeck page, they won’t see any spoilers. If I’m somehow wrong, correct me, and I’ll change it, or the post can be deleted.
I don’t know if there is a set of rules for writing open threads for new tv shows or tv shows in general as I have never done one. And since there was not one tonight, I made this one because I bet there are a lot people here who watched it with a lot of great thoughts and observations to share and discuss, and I look forward to reading them.
If anyone wants to write an in-depth review, recap, or article, I would greatly look forward to reading that also. I just wanted to get the ball rolling, but I don’t currently have time to write up a whole big thing.
