Welcome back to another Friday Open Thread, where any mention or discussion of the Gawker auction is taken to mean you’ve going overboard.

For me not much has happened this week really. I did finally get around to watching the 2014 version of Godzilla, the one everyone talked up as being amazing but honestly I was rather underwhelmed. The film looked amazing throughout and the final 20 minutes of Godzilla and the MUTOs fighting it out was great but my god was the previous 100 minutes bad. Not only was a lot of the cool stuff skipped (such as the Hawaii Godzilla fight) but all the characters, who are in positions of power, should not be in positions of power as every decision they made was laughable. Even at the end the US is still using small arms against the monsters despite being wholly useless. Even Godzilla 1998 had the military constantly upping the firepower as weaker weapons kept failing, ending with them carpet bombing the thing by the end of the film. Plus the constant fallback to using a nuclear weapon to attack something that not only feeds of off but is also drawn to nuclear radiation was obviously going to go badly but nope, they do it multiple times.

This weekend I’ll probably try out that Titanfall 2 Test thing if it finally unlocks and maybe go watch a film at the local multiplex but apart from that not much planned really. So what about you guys, any films that was widely liked but you didn’t enjoy, or was there anything exciting this week or planned for the weekend?
