I wasn’t going to do a post at all today and save it all for tomorrow, but I realized while doing some digging that some of these sales are only good for today only. So pretty much have to take advantage of some of these today or else you’re going to miss out. I’m going to put the ones that are expiring today first and the rest after.
T-Mobile back to school deals
Up first, T-Mobile has quite a few back to school deals that expire today. So if you want to take advantage of any of these do so immediately. Or at worst before the day is done.
Of all these devices the one I’m most intrigued by is the ZTE Zmax. It’s a 5.7” phone, which earlier today was on sale via slickdeals (from Walmart) for $45! That’s insane. It’s got a Snapdragon 400 and 2 gigs of RAM. The T-Mobile deal will get you a certified pre-owned version for about $100, which is definitely not bad. You could certainly do worse.
The most intriguing part to me is how to achieve root on the device. For those unfamiliar with anything you see there, it’s not exactly for the faint of heart. But if you’ve done it once you’ve done it a million times. It’s as simple as following the instructions. I am honestly really struggling to not pick up this phone just for the joy of going through that root achieving process, as lengthy as it is. That’s the kind of thing that is seriously fun to me.
Recovery and a quite a few ROMs are also available for the phone, which is basically all you can ask for.
LG G4 (32 GB and Unlocked, which means GSM only) for $420
Please note the delivery date estimates on the device, if you need it soon it’ll be here as early as this Friday and potentially as late two weeks later.
At that price it’s definitely the best deal out there at the moment given the device. Which I’ve done a quick write-up on fairly recently.
HTC M9 purchase scores you $100 in Play Store credit
The catch being you have to buy a version of the M9 and doing so off contract (if you like buying that way like I do) will set you back $650. (Buying on contract should get you the device for significantly less money.)
Well, that and you have to purchase the phone by 11/30/15. Which is odd as Android Police reports the purchase by date as being August 31, 2015.
That’s all I got for today.
Tomorrow though I have an idea for a post inspired by my mom and her clumsiness. Namely, how to setup devices for those users in your life who you don’t trust with electronic devices. (Hint: It involves paying for a launcher and then basically hiding everything you don’t want them using.)
For what it’s worth, my mom has officially gone from a Samsung Galaxy S4 forever doomed to be stuck on KitKat to a Samsung Galaxy S5 that is now more up to date than my damn phone. This annoys/pisses me off to no end. Not the least reason of which is having a bestie who routinely sends me messages asking what version of Android my phone is on. “5.1, asshole.” “Oh, damn. Condolences. Mine’s on 5.1.1. I’ve got an extra point one. Do you have that extra point one?” “I will murder you.” “Hahaha.” That’s basically how all our conversations have eventually ended up since he got his new phone last month or whenever it was he got it. I suck with time and whatnot, so don’t ask me specifics because I won’t have them.
I’ll include plenty of screenshots, as upon casual use you’d be hardpressed to tell TouchWiz was still on the phone. (Unless you go into the Settings anywhere.)
