Thanks to that post yesterday, I downloaded Space Engineers and started playing. The yellow ship I'm floating next to is my first attempt at ship building.
If you noticed the yellow dented area in the lower left of the image, that's where I first landed the ship (and dented the platform) and then accidentally painted while working on the ship.
I also bumped the ship while working on it, which sent the ship into a slow rotating course away from the platform. I had to fly out, jump into the ship's cockpit and pilot it back to the platform. Since I was doing some work on the underside I left it parked above the platform. But I was more careful while I finished working on it. Darn classical mechanics!
UPDATE: Flying large ships is tricky.
