Now BC is a rumor site but this kind of makes sense to me. Maybe them going after Fox directly is a bit sensationalist, but despite all the success of the MCU, the rest of this year and all of next year may be the most important in Marvel Studio's history. Taking two relatively obscure franchises in Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man and seeing if they can carry their weight in the MCU, seeing if Agents of SHIELD can maintain a decent audience, super ambitious plans with Netflix.

And of course Age of Ultron.

So it makes sense that they would want to make the IPs that are going to have the largest direct impact the focal point of the next 12-18 months. Despite this, it's hard to imagine Marvel shelving or downgrading Fantastic Four, X-Men, or Spider-Man. But it is a fascinating problem they have and I wonder if this is a sign of things to come or just a coincidence.
