Just thought I'd share this one since it seems pretty neat and totally fits in with the io9/Odeck crowd.

And yes, that is the actual boot animation for any Moto X or Moto G. I got the update early this morning and rebooted just to see what it entailed. On my device it's the same as the video, minus my "hello" thing, which says "bang! i shot you."

I hope they leave it as is continuing forward, since it's a pretty neat boot animation.

EDIT: As nctrns pointed out, boot animations are stored under /system/media/bootanimation.zip and you can pull those manually using ADB or if you've got a decent file manager on your phone you can just navigate to the appropriate place and do things that way too. Thanks for pointing that out and catching my "d'oh" moment with saying apk instead.

In keeping with my Android related posts, time for some news!

You may or may not notice one thing in the video. "Powered by Android". This is a new requirement going forward from Google for all OEMs, to put that on the boot animations for whenever a device is turned on or rebooted.

No real reason given for why that is now going to be a requirement, but speculation on my part and the part of others basically goes with branding.

Or better said, not everyone knows what operating system is on their device. You can tell someone who isn't in the know that it's Android and they'll respond with "No! I don't want a Droid!" "Droid" having become synonymous with Android, largely due to Motorola's phones of the same moniker and originally carried (and still carried to this day) by Verizon. You know the ones I mean. The "droid does" commercials from a few years ago.

So going forward this would actually be a smart way to inform people of what is powering their device, with the answer being Android.
