I’m working my way through Dark Souls III again, this time with a Pyro build. I never really thought I’d be into these games, but after Bloodborne (which I’ve also played through twice), I’ve really gotten into Hidetaka Miyazaki’s wacky world of masochistic fun. In fact, the only games I’ve really spent any significant time playing over the last year have been Bloodborne and DSIII, with Overwatch to lighten the gloom. And I’ve started seeing Dark Souls’s influence in a lot of popular culture lately, particularly the “boss battle” scene in Doctor Strange. (“I can lose. Again. And again. And again. Forever. That makes you my prisoner” is basically the Miyazaki Credo in a nutshell. Suck on that, giant monsters!)

It’s my birthday next Tuesday, so I was thinking of striking out early on Friday morning to see if I could snag a Switch. Truth be told, though, there’s just not much that interests me for the console besides Zelda, and I can always download that for my poor neglected Wii U. There is something rather appealing about the idea of wandering around Hyrule while sitting in the backyard (it will be seasonably unseasonably warm all week). The whole digital milk from a virtual cow udder thing is something I’m not ready for. Maybe none of us are. Perhaps the Singularity begins with a plaintive “Moo.”
