Noted British naturalist Mark Carwardine (friend to the late Douglas Adams and infamous seducer of rare parrots) had a run in a Blue Whale whilst filming the current BBC/PBS nature series Big Blue Live, which decided to say hello at exact moment he was trying to explain how incredibly difficult to find the animals usually are.

Whether this is a result of a rare mutation which allows whales to sense irony or simply part of natures grander ongoing project to mildly embarrass Carwardine has yet to be determined.
