Right now, quite a few people are talking about the “open letter” to Warner Brothers from an allegedly former employee and Patty Jenkins’ response to it. Personally, I’m of the opinion that we should wait and see whether or not Wonder Woman is a good movie, but there are already people clamoring for the DCEU to be…
Filmmaker Roy Pace has told Radio 4's The Film Programme how he turned back time for the Man of Steel in 1978's Superman. After several attempts had fallen through he had a crack using a cheap globe purchased from Woolworths.
With the recent news that director Zack Snyder was actively working on a script adaptation of Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead, the idea that Zack Snyder follows Rand’s philosphy of Objectivism emerged. Immediately, the influence of Objectivism can be seen in many of his films. But what dawned on me personally was how…
As of BoxOfficeMojo's last report from October 15th, Guardians of the Galaxy has reached a worldwide box office total of $705M. Since it just opened in China on the 10th, I think it's pretty safe to assume that there's gonna be a few more millions coming their way. What's interesting about that is, Guardians is less…
I found this interesting, you may too.
So I got my hands on the Blu-Ray of Man of Steel last night and watched it while I tried to keep the baby asleep for a few hours. A couple of thoughts.
With the casting of Wonder Woman, which I'm ambivalent about, you might as well make it about DC's big three. Do a short origin clip for Wonder Woman make her a goddess like Thor, hell have Steve Trevor explain on a off cuff remark. Leave Batman's origin more or less the same since we have seen about 100 times now,…
Is it terrible? Is it great! Two critics take the film on! I personally am going to wait for second movie to see overarching theme of series first. Though it hasn't been filling me with confidence so far.
Zack Snyder has finally weighed in on the greatest question of the summer; how many innocent Metropolitans were killed during the climatic battle scene in Man of Steel?
There is some serious cognitive dissonance between costume companies desire to sell costumes to women, and their understanding of what women are - their understanding of fictional women at least.
Remember that digital-first Superman series that Orson Scott Card was going to write an issue of before the unholy wrath of the internet descended upon DC? Well, now that the controversy has died down and Card's issue has been postponed indefinitely, DC's rotating teams of writers and artists have been putting out…
I have read a great deal of pixels both praising and savaging Man of Steel, especially Rob Bricken's laugh-out-loud The Most Important Scenes from Man of Steel (As I Remember Them). I started thinking - back in the day (the days of the mid '80s) when I did my comic-store-hangin'-about, the stories that got all the…
It's no secret that I adore me some Henry Cavill. I love him even more after this press tour, wherein it was revealed that he is indeed a big dork who can't wear a Tom Ford suit, though he repeatedly tries. I have (amazingly) had a life lately and couldn't get to see his movie until tonight. Worth the wait.
This should be my last post about Man of Steel (and there was much rejoicing). I downloaded the soundtrack yesterday and it's great. It's very Hans Zimmer-y so YMMV depending on how much you like his style. No spoilers (other than what's in the trailers).
Buzzfeed has done an analysis of the damage done when Superman and Zod go toe-to-toe. Kinda spoilerish, a little bit.
Sorry, folks, a few spoilers thrown about!
...but one thing most folks agree on is that this poster is pretty rad.
I really like the music. I'll probably buy the soundtrack to listen to while I'm working. And some spoilery thoughts on the movie itself after the cut.
Melding story elements of the first four Superman films—except the one where Richard Pryor recreates Kryptonite out of cigarettes—here is Skyrim at the Movies: Man of Steel, featuring Supes, Throthgar Luthor, Terence Stamp Zod, and Nuclear Man. It's got Eve Teschmacher, too, just not as hot as Valerie Perrine.
