In and out in nine hours. Next!
So if I have things right, this post will pop up ten minutes before those of us in the UK find out what that elephant was doing on the frozen Thames.
You wait ages for a new Who and then several come at once. The list of potential names keeps getting longer but did BBC1 treat viewers to a backdoor pilot for what we can expect to follow Mr Capaldi?
Within minutes of the the new Doctor Who airing, two British redtops claimed that Peter Capaldi’s replacement has started filming and will appear in the Christmas special.
Hello, Whovians! After rewatching “Heaven Sent” and “Hell Bent”, very carefully, mind you, I have absolutely no idea how the new season will begin, much less how it will end. Especially given:
Chat show host and Whovian Interruptus Supreme Graham Norton might have learnt something tonight. Exiting Time Lord Peter Capaldi was among guests on Norton’s show tonight and recounted an awkward moment during a public relations trip to Germany. Arriving in Berlin he was advised “not to mention the War.”
Peter Capaldi has told listeners of Radio Two that he is stepping down as Doctor Who.
Here is Melissa Benoist, star of Supergirl, at the Women’s March on Washington yesterday. As if she couldn’t get more awesome than the time she was surrounded by puppies.
Apparently the ratings for Season 9 of Doctor Who leave something to be desired. This bodes poorly, but it’s not the first time a prickly Doctor divisible by 6 has seen a dip in ratings. So it begs the question: Can the Doctor afford to be unlikable?
Seriously, this fits Capaldi’s Doctor so much better that it should be the titles music going forward.
Born in 1958. Another day, another Doctor. Despite a career stretching back 33 years and across 106 credits he never actually caught my attention until he showed up on the second season of The Hour. The things one misses, being American.
SPOILERS AHOY! After the break!
The other day, I outlined a few reasons why the arrival of a new Doctor is a great time to jump on board the fan bandwagon. Deep Breath didn't disappoint— it had adventure, gorgeous costumes and scenery, thrills, and a fight in the clouds over Victorian London. What's not to love?
The Doctor is back for the first time! But he brought a bunch of in-jokes with him. Is an overabundance of fan service a good thing for a show purportedly going in a new direction? Spoilers!
Although it's not of Capaldi in his Twelfth Doctor clothes, it's a step in the right direction! A new 'Regeneration Set' based on the end of The Time of The Doctor has been announced for later this year, with more alt-heads than you can shake a Gallifreyan at.
But he's not wrong either: this was posted on his official Facebook fan page!
Here's your first, fleeting glimpses of Series 8 and Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor - Doctor Who returns in August!
He's basically in his Twelfth Doctor clothes, so I guess this makes it sci-fi relevant? Yeah, let's go with that.
