The pendulum swung the other way on the question of justified violence in last night’s good new episode of The Expanse. Featuring some nice action, suspense, problem solving, and a cameo from Adam Savage, it also occurred to me that for a show that’s not half as popular as The Walking Dead its special effects budget…
Once again, The Expanse gives us a season finale named after one of the books. Our main characters are all stuck on various space ships with hostile forces, and the political situation does not appear to be in a particularly great spot. On the plus side, Holden seems to have finally begun the process of rectocranial…
Last night’s new episode of The Expanse, “The Monster and the Rocket”, was another refreshing example of the show moving away from the trend in the best television shows of the past few years, like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, to focus on ruthless protagonists. This was a story about how doing the stone cold,…
Tempers fray and alliances shift as we near the penultimate episode of the season.
Last night’s new episode of The Expanse, “Here There Be Dragons”, written by Georgia Lee, seemed to mainly be a bridge episode from one set of plot points to another. And yet it was satisfying and filled with several fun moments for characters.
Welcome back to The Expanse. Last week raised a number of questions and possibilities, all of which paled in comparison to Alex doing zero-g party tricks with a respectable number of beer cans. Please mark book spoilers in the comments.
Will Holden screw up trying to do the right thing again? That was a rhetorical question. Please mark book spoilers.
Last night’s new episode of The Expanse was called “The Weeping Somnambulist”. Certainly an intriguing title, I’m not exactly sure what it means beyond referencing the ship Holden’s crew hitch a ride on. It’s not quite of the Eros crashing into Venus level of plain use of name or title to convey a message. I’m still…
In which a Martian goes to Earth (for real this time, I swear). Please mark book spoilers in the comments.
Am I the only one who wants Naomi and Drummer to ditch Holden and Fred and start their own faction on The Expanse? Drummer (Cara Gee) in particular, in “Pye”, last night’s new episode, is turning out to be a lot more fun than one of the two blandest leading men she’s stuck with on the show. It was a good episode,…
In which a Martian goes to Earth. Please label book spoilers in the comments.
The shit has once again resumed its customary position near the fan. How violently will Avasarala need to swear to keep this from exploding? As always, please mark book spoilers in the comments
With the leviathan now fully awake, we look to see the fallout over last week’s insane resolution. Please mark book spoilers in the comments.
Wow. What an amazing, lovely new episode of The Expanse last night. I know there was a lot leading up to it but that single episode in terms of tone, plot, subtext, and insight, had more of the weight of a feature film than most feature films nowadays.
Some spooky shit is going down with Eros. Please mark book spoilers in the comments.
Welcome back to The Expanse. Prediction: a certain group of people are going to be extraordinarily unhappy. As always, please keep book spoilers well labeled.
This week’s new episode of The Expanse, “Static”, was a big improvement for me from the première. I felt like characters were allowed to breathe and act more organically and even the colour palette seemed better.
Welcome back to The Expanse. As always, please mark book-related spoiers clearly in the comments.
I got around to watching the second season premiere of The Expanse last night, the show that in its first season was an exciting, inventively written space opera with a fascinating attention to real science. The premiere of the new season is something of a deflation from the high emotional pitch of the first season’s…
After a very long break, welcome back to a double feature of The Expanse. Since we probably have a mixture of book and non-book readers here, please mark any spoilers originating from the novels in your comments.
