Variety just reported that ABC is canceling "Manhattan Love Story," one of its new sitcoms. This particular new sitcom occupies the Tuesday at 8:30 time slot, which means it was the lead-in program for Agents of SHIELD. It's a basic principle of television programming that a popular lead-in will increase the viewership of the program following it (because some people are just too lazy to change the channel). So, if Manhattan Love Story wasn't doing well (and it must've been really weak to axe it after only four episodes), then replacing it on the schedule may provide a stronger lead-in for SHIELD, giving more people a chance to see how much better it has gotten this season. Of course, it depends on what they fill the spot with now, but hey, we can hope.
