Lindsay Ellis is a great internet reviewer. She has done videos on Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Mel Brooks, Pocahontas, and an entire series on Transformers. So when she uploaded a video talking about the “complex feels” of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, I immediately watched it and you should, too.

The video takes a look at the many characters and themes of the movie, including the themes of ego (with a lowercase e), toxic masculinity, and being a part of an abusive family and it examines almost every character. It doesn’t shy away from the flaws of the films either (talking particularly about the portrayal of Mantis), but it does examine the movie on a deeper level than I think a lot of other reviews do and shows how different the film actually is from a lot of other blockbusters and even other MCU films.

Go watch the video. It’s really good.
