The NYT article about this picture made me think of the line in the Talmud; "Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world." Carlos Arredondo could only help save one person but the person he saved was Jeff Bauman, who fresh out of recovery for a double amputation helped identify images of one of the bombers. One person...the whole world. I know O-deck is sci-fi oriented, and this is a fairly personal musing, but somehow it also kind of fits here. I've always like that quote and it feels like the basis for a lot of sci-fi and speculative fiction. Have a good weekend, be excellent to each other. This article made me think of that line in the Talmud.
