The time: July 2012*. The place: a movie theatre.**
I have just watched The Amazing Spider-Man.
It was... okay?
I avoided watching this since I was so offended that they rebooted the series so soon after Raimi's movies. I took this very personally for some reason.
I went into the movie not really knowing the plot other than "Peter Park, noted geek, gets bitten by special spider and fights crime." So when Noted Thespian Rhys Ifans showed up and started talking about controlling nature and having power over things I went "Yeah, so you're the villain. When do you go full-evil?"
Saying that, I LOVED THIS CAST. Martin Sheen needs to be in my life more. Just, he is a dream. Sally Field? YES. Denis Leary? He could comfortably play cranky NYC public defenders for the rest of his career and we would all be very happy. And Garfield's and Stone's chemistry was off the charts.
So with all of the wonderful people, I really thought I would like it more. But at the end of it, I was just under-whelmed. It seemed liked it was missing something.
Should I watch the sequel? Or will I be perfectly fine waiting another two ears to watch it?
