So I said basically this in response to malcontent on twitter, who asked what I thought of The Last Jedi discarding both the Jedi and the Sith and the fake nerd boys blathering on about it, but I thought I’d collect this nerd rant a bit here.
First, some important background. The Jedi think:
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.
while the Sith believe:
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
But there’s an abreviated mantra of the Jedi code that I really think is telling and on point here:
Emotion, yet peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony.
Death, yet the Force.
There is no distinction between the Jedi and the Sith. They’re mere reflections, which was bluntly shown in the “dark side cave” in both The Last Jedi and Empire Strikes Back. Luke could become Vader. Rey is just looking for the same. Anakin can be redeemed at any point, because anyone can.
There is no fate but what we make.
If you’re some alt nazi fake nerd boy throwing a tantrum about Leia using the Force because only boys can be space wizards, well, you can cut that shit out right now. Or tomorrow. Or the next day. Or on your deathbed. You can choose to be a decent person and join the Ewok bonfire with whatever time you have. We’ve got s’mores.
Or not. It’s your life, and what you do with it is up to you. Just the same, those of us that don’t pull that kind of shit on the regular can easily get caught up in your bullshit and end up slaughtering the younglings and getting a bad mother fucker defenestrated.
Or we can just ignore you, run off to Canto Bight and play with some cut fox horsies. We don’t have to fight what we hate, we can just go over here and save what we love.
In the words of the great philosopher William S. Prescott; be excellent to each other.
And that’s it. There’s no need for things called Jedi or Sith. They were both always there, and they always will be. They’re in the stable boy looking to the stars with a new hope, and in the screaming fanaticism of General Hugs railing against the SJWs inventing new Force powers.
Cause that’s what Social Justice Warriors do, whether you call them Jedi or not. They make new stuff for us all to play with, together, and for those about to follow to build on.
The Jedi never win when they fight the Sith. You can’t. They’re a part of them as much as it is the screaming pasty white face wildly swinging the flaming tiki torch.
If you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can imagine, because it’s a silly game. The only winning move is not to play.
