Today has been a lazy day thanks to Comet TV. First they showed “Message From Space” which is a Japanese made 1978 Star Warsish movie that I had never seen before. Later they are pulling out the big guns with Flash Gordon! I preemptively apologize to anybody that hears me singing the theme song to myself later.
I managed to see the blue version of Rogue One yesterday. That is, the version where the projector bulb needed to be replaced but wasn’t so the whole film was tinged blue. This was my third time seeing the film so I noticed the difference right away. I was with my friend, Tim, who hadn’t seen the movie yet and he…
As we finally get ready to kick 2016 out the door, let’s all pour one out for a man who touched every drinker’s life.
New Year’s eve day eve edition.
So many unlikable characters killed by other unlikable chracters so little time! Many have talked about 2016 being villainous in and of itself but at least in the fictional world it has also taken with it many unlikable characters. In my opinion that includes from Game of Thrones the High Septon, Lancel, Ser Alliser…
Someone else has already Photoshopped a young Princess Leia in to this famous image; I thought I’d do the same with the mature General Leia Organa, as a small tribute to Carrie Fisher and her Star Wars legacy.

If you have been watching commercial tv in the UK this holiday season you might have noticed the odd advertisement for cat food, energy drinks and furniture cut away to breaking news of an alien incursion. All of which was a prelude to this cautionary tale of alien invasion.
It’s the Last Friday Open Thread of 2016 and all I can say is thank fuck for that.
A strange and alien force has rendered the crew of the International Space Station immobile. Will they be frozen forever? Could this weird influence be felt across the globe?
If you haven’t seen Rogue One yet, you might want to avoid reading further. This post contains spoilers from the film.
An 8 bit game of course, this being the prequel to a movie released in ‘76... ;) (Spoilers for Rogue One, obviously, it’s also the last scene.)
The end is nigh! Charlie Brooker’s mixed-up muse Philomena Cunk rounds out the year with a look at the Apocalypse. Mother Shipton’s prophecies may have been debunked by a careful process of looking around but it seems that Brian Cox is really gloomy.
Writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Nico Leon have done something incredible with Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk. One of the strongest figures in the Marvel Universe sounds and reads like an entirely different character, now, following the events of Civil War II.
Big Finish has been celebrating Twelve Days of Big Finishmas by offering various discounts and a couple of free episodes. Their latest free offering is a Seventh Doctor story called “Forever Fallen.” Further information and free downloads available at this link:
I’m Jeff Maul, I’m your parking attendant for today. My mother always says: “Jeff, you’re wasting your talents! Look at your cousin. He’s not a better sword fighter than you, and you are here, directing landspeeders to their parking spaces while he’s off killing Jedi!”
The mother of Carrie Fisher has died one day after her daughter after suffering a stroke.
Happy Birthday Nichelle. Live long and prosper.
