Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks

Most Americans probably don’t know him (in which case I recommend the only article IO9 has ever had about that topic) but Albert Uderzo, last survivor of the two creators of Europe’s arguably most influential and popular comic (I dare you to find one of us who hasn’t grown up on Asterix) has passed away.

The adventures of the little undefeatable Gaul village will continue (Uderzo had handed the creation over to new artists, after his attempts to not only draw but also write the stories after the death of the original writer René Goscinny were less than stellar, to be honest), but nevertheless this ends an era of European Comics that pretty much everyone participated in.

RIP.

I hope if there’s a feast where he is, nobody sings.
