So yesterday a new trailer for Netflix’s adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events appeared on YouTube:
The trailer was dark and spooky and awesome. There was something strange about it, however: it wasn’t posted to Netflix’s YouTube account. Instead, it was posted to the account of someone named “Eleanora Poe.”
And today, Netflix declared that it wasn’t the one who made the trailer. So what, exactly, is going on here?
A few possibilities:
- This is simply a trailer a designer or design team mocked up to show off their skill.
- A Series of Unfortunate Events superfan made it and uploaded it.
- Netflix is lying and it is a part of their secret advertising campaign.
- The V.F.D. did it.
In any case, go watch the trailer and hope that Netflix does at least as good as job on the official one.
