Earlier today there was a Jezebel post titled "Eating Breakfast Does Not Help You Lose Weight" and now there is one on io9* titled "No, skipping breakfast will not cause you to gain weight." Besides the sentence case vs title case argument, there's something else interesting about the two posts.

Both posts cite the same NYT article and state a similar point.

  • Jezebel: "skipping breakfast has little to no effect on weight gain or loss"
  • io9: "skipping breakfast has virtually no effect on weight gain"

But the Jezebel post stresses that "people who eat breakfast are simply consuming more calories" while the io9 one stresses that "either strategy [eating or skipping breakfast] works just as well."

So looking at the same information, the two posts and their headlines have very different emphases.

*Yes, the io9 article was written by Dvorsky.
