Alexandre Desplat to Score Luc Besson's "Valerian"

Page from “Valerian and The Thousand Planets”, a classic French comic book

Great news from Besson himself via Twitter!

The Maestro Himself

Or in many more words: The dynamic and multifaceted Alexandre Desplat, fresh off a highly publicized scheduling conflict and departure from Disney’s Star Wars:Rogue One, is now composing the musical score for Luc Besson’s ambitious live-action comic-book space opera “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”.

The movie opens July 2017, and stars Herbie Handcock, Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, Clive Owen, Rihanna, John Goodman, Rutger Hauer, and Ethan Hawke. And spaceships and aliens and sci-fi action and probably a fantastic score.

Just a quick “heads up” for those of you who get excited about such things!
