Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks

AMA: Computers, Android and Android Smartphones - CLOSED - bangishotyou

Good morning, Odeckers! So tackling Drillpress' new AMA posts today is me, bangishotyou. While I by no means consider myself an expert, I do know a few things about computers (in general), Android and Android smartphones.

For a little background, I've been tinkering with electronics and technology since I was 4 years old. I got seriously into messing with computers when Vista came out, much to my chagrin. I learned everything I currently know simply by doing research for hours on end online. "Why do my friends' computers and mine suck? Ah, Vista. How can I make it not suck?" And I basically ran with things from there. The first phone I ever rooted was the HTC Hero and then numerous HTC Evo's back when they first were released. By rooted I don't mean using a toolkit either, I'm talking about the old school ADB push every single file using command line way.

From a semi-professional standpoint, I've been working with computers and all that for about 6 years now and in a much more formal and professional setting for over 2 years now.

I consider myself to be a non-specialist specialist when it comes to technology. I don't know everything about everything, but I know a little bit about everything and there are a few areas where I would say I'm smarter than the average bear and know quite a bit.

So let's get this show on the road! Ask me whatever you'd like and I'll do my best to answer your questions or point you in the right direction if it's in regards to something I don't know.

And for the record, I'll be here til 5 PM responding to everyone.

After that, I will close this down but I will more than likely reply to any questions or comments that pop up anyway. Given that it's a Friday though and I do love me my weekends that might not happen right away . So consider yourselves fairly warned.

Update: In regards to Captain Max and JINX's question about smartphone recommendations, I published a post I worked on yesterday as an up to date version of my picks. You can view it here and if you've got questions/comments just let me know either in this post or over there in that one.

Update: Officially this AMA is done. Unofficially, ask me anything in regards to the given subjects and I'll respond as I can.
