I stumbled upon this video while researching techniques for a project I’m working on. I was interested in achieving a “microscopic cellular” pattern in acrylic paint and this video details how the science behind the effect works.
By combining different paint consistencies, you can get a honeycomb look without doing much of anything, really.
D.A. Siqueiros himself found this technique by accident/chance, so to have it explained in scientific terms is kinda neat.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Siqueiros’ work, but this is making me want to go back and really study detail shots of his pieces.
