So last night I got to go the Los Angeles stop of Neil Gaiman's book tour. It was at the Alex, a lovely old theater in Glendale. We paid for the big deal tickets that included reserved seating (within the first 6 rows) a copy of Ocean at the End of the Lane a copy of Make Good Art and the pre-event reception. Neil himself showed up at the reception and really made an effort to meet people and speak with them.
After the reception we filed in to get out seat, we managed to score seats front row center!! He opened by reading a bit of Ocean, he answered questions and talked about writing, nightmares, the difference between cats and dogs, and proper drainpipes. He was charming, funny and a delight. He himself remarked on what a lovely venue it was, and because of that he had a surprise. Now, you may be thinking, whatever is he doing in that picture?
He read to us the beginning of HIS NEW CHILDREN'S BOOK COMING OUT IN SEPTEMBER!!!!! We only got a glimpse but I cannot wait until it comes out.
We then got a chance to get our books signed, I got to tell him it was a thrill to meet him and he even had a comment for me!
It was a fantastic, amazing night!!!
