This new aquarium is just incredible!

It is so well designed and organized, and has some absolutely perfect details for kids that I just can't wait to bring my niece and nephews to visit.

I was a little worried, since the aquarium is run by Ripley's (Yes, of the "Believe it or not!" Ripley's), but it was very, very well done.

Kelp forests, coral reefs, an intense moving sidewalk/underwater tunnel with sawfish and sharks and turtles, and 3(!) touch pools with horseshoe crabs, sharks and rays, jellyfish tanks...

I'll shut up and show pictures now. (Sorry-not-sorry for the sheer volume of them!)

The first exhibit is a trip through the Canadian waters, from East to West.

Delightfully rhythmic kelp forest:

Then there was the "Rainbow Reef" - essentially some fun coral-reef action

Then there was 100m long underwater tunnel that had some just gorgeous and crazy creatures. There was a moving sidewalk but you could also walk it if you wanted to.

So, one of the awesome kid-friendly touches? A tunnel through the leopard shark tank!

Giant animatronic shark head! Also, shark anatomy. Cool!

Rays!

Jellyfish!

I thought this was pretty cool, they showed their tanks and filters and stuff so you could see how the place worked!

And then I got to pet some sharks.

I was so impressed I promptly bought an annual pass and plan on learning and/or giving all the fish names.

If (okay, when) I go on the behind-the-scenes-tour I'll give you another photodump ;)
