The Netflix Original movie ARQ went up today. It’s a science fiction movie starring Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor as a couple who are caught up in a time loop situation that’s familiar if you’ve seen a certain movie or that particular episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I won’t drop any spoilers beyond what’s in the trailer.

ARQ is written and directed by Orphan Black writer Tony Elliott. It doesn’t waste any time jumping right into the story and advances steadily to the end. There are plenty of twists but there’s nothing really new you haven’t seen in some form or another if you watch a lot of these kinds of movies. There are details to keep track of but ARQ doesn’t demand Primer level attention and the time travel (plot) device is on the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey side.

But I liked ARQ as a (relatively) lightweight bit of entertainment if you have a free hour and a half.

ARQ is currently streaming on Netflix.
