Assassin's Creed IV is basically the Pirate game I always wanted

As soon as I got my hands on the Jackdaw, I had more fun in the 5 hours I played last night then I think I had in the entirety of playing Assassin's Creed III.

I've barely even scratched the main missions. I've been exploring island to island, searching for buried treasure, engaging in fierce naval battles, getting in drunken bar fights, and generally horsing around on the high seas.

My favorite moment was when I was in contested seas with a high wanted level. I had 3 hunter ships and a military ship on me, with a few smaller ships on the outskirts. It was an epic battle that had my heart pumping. I was close to destruction so many times. But we saw it through and made over 3000 Reales in goods and tons of materials I used to upgrade the Jackdaw into an even more intimidating beast.

I also love how easy it is to control the Jackdaw. Nothing is as satisfying as narrowly avoiding a cannon barrage or another ship attempting to ram itself into us.

I still need to finish breeding the last member of my team in Pokemon, and I still have the Disgaea post-game to get in to, but I think I'll take this week and indulge in my childhood fantasy of being a pirate.

And maybe get farther in to the story. Who knows?
