Maybe you have a long commute, spending vast amounts of time in a car, train or bicycle as you travel your ways around the world. If you’re like me, you have a lot of books and other sources that preoccupy your reading time but there’s just this void that you want to fill.
I’d like your help in enlisting others to start an audiobook sharing group right here on the ODeck!
You may be reading this post and asking such things like:
What? Does anyone even want to do this?!
I have no clue, but I really enjoy Audio books and Dramas on my commute home from work. They really make traffic a lot more tolerable. I’ve even found myself sitting in parking lots for a bit just so I could finish certain sections.
Well I was thinking we could probably stick to loose general rules of no self help books, while those are fun maybe we can post those in a different threaded post. Sci Fi, fantasy, great story telling or impressive audio dramas are all the requirements I see - I hope others can help me define this as well!
Are you going to tell us about one to get started!
Sure why not. Recently I have started the ‘Iron Druid Chronicles’ by Kevin Hearne. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no…
The plot is great. It follows a thousands year old druid along his modern adventures. He wanders and most of the time stumbles across gods and figures from many pantheons around the globe. Part of the appeal to this series is the general crassness that the main character Atticus has. He takes a very laissez-faire approach to interacting with modern culture and people and has many pop culture references that will make you chuckle in relation. Some of the dialogue had me rolling, and laughing out loud. The hardest part from listening to this series will be to take the ear buds out of your ears when you’re doing work.
The Audio books can be grabbed on Spotify, Amazon, Audible and other sources!
