It’s Saturday, and if you’re avoiding the political stories like me that means you’ve watched some coverage of Hurricane Matthew. Most of the coverage has been people in rain coats standing outside in the rain trying to yell over the wind to tell people it’s a bad idea to stand outside in the wind and the rain.
That’s actually one of my pet peeves with weather reporting, they document themselves doing that exact opposite of what they tell other people to do. Bad snow storm causing bad travel conditions? We have a person driving on ice covered roads to show it’s icy. Tornado touching down and telling people to take cover? Have a reporter and a camera crew doing the exact opposite so they can get a blurry picture. You could achieve the same end result with webcams people, no need to risk the interns to get the story anymore.
Okay, now that my rant it out of the way, how’s everybody doing? Got something you want to talk about? Got another TV reporting pet peeve you want to share? Anybody in Florida or the rest of Matthew’s past and want to share how you’re doing or what’s going on? Talk about it below in the Open Thread.
