Yesterday, Lifehacker ran a post on the EdX presentation of CS50: Intro to Computer Programming as taught at Harvard. One may audit or get a certificate, enrollment is open and free, and one may proceed at one's own pace.

I have a very clear memory of a friend saying anyone who has taken this course will never want for a job in programming, though this goes back to the '90s...
