Charlie Jane Anders has a new short story “The Minnesota Diet” posted over on Slate. As she puts it, she “wrote about a high-tech city that’s hit by severe food shortages. Because I really don’t think you can think about the future without thinking about hunger.”

The story is part of Slate’s Future Tense partnership with Arizona State University to explore emerging technologies, public policy, and society.

You can read the story here then follow up by reading the response to the story by a food systems expert.
