Choice Sides - Music for Halloween

This is great atmospheric music for different occasions. It can be used for ambiance if you open your house for the trick or treating kiddies. Or for those of you creatively inclined, the music here works perfectly through headphones or out the speakers. I’ve used for writing and I play it while I sleep. Its this or classical music for sleeping. Works wonders. Composed by Thomas Prislac Jr., check out his music when you can here.

This is collection of interpretations of theme songs from films such as The Godfather, Rosemary’s Baby, The Omen, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and more by the band Fantômas. Again, excellent for Halloween night. You will make people who visit your lair think twice about accepting that candy when they hear this madness. The band is consists of singer Mike Patton from Faith No More, Tomahawk and Mr. Bungle, guitarist Buzz Osborne from The Melvins, Trevor Dunn (FNM and Tomahawk) and drummer Dave Lombardo of founding member of Slayer. And speaking of Slayer...

Like the many songs from the band, Dead Skin Mask is an attempt to get into the thoughts of someone who is completely deranged and has given into the evil that resides deep within humanity. The end makes your skin-crawl.

Warning: The footage is taken from an episode of Biography which contains actual photographs of victims.

The song can be taken literally or if you’re like me, read deeper into the lyrics. Its based on the singer’s childhood experience. Either way, the animation is beautiful and a weird creepiness at the same time. From TooL’s first album, the song Prison Sex.

An interesting aside: When you search for content on youtube, as soon as you begin to type something into the search engine, the names or words are completed for you. With this song I had to type the name in its entirety for some weird reason.

And finally, we have The Haxans with the song Chains. Comprised of Ash Costello (New Years Day) and Matt Montgomery (bassist for Rob Zombie). Their sound is kinda The Munsters theme song and kinda The Dresden Dolls. Just a fun song to dance to at the party while wearing that costume that does nothing more than get in the way.

I can go on until my death about music, but I’ll stop here.

What about you? What’s your favorite music for this special time of the year? I’m always looking for new music, stuff I’ve not heard before, so bring out your best tunes.
