Hello again, everybody. We're getting closer to Halloween, so I'm still doing my favourite "autumny" songs.
This week I'm going to do something a bit different, however. There are a lot of songs that I love listening to this time of year, but for one reason or another, they don't have any sort of video attached to them.
So for this round of the Graveyard Shift, I'm going to be using videos from YouTube, but only for the songs (some of them may have a "fan made" video, but the visuals aren't important). I'm also going to put up a few more than I usually do, to take advantage of not needing a video. =)
So sit back, and I hope you enjoy this week's aural experience!
I love John Renbourn. I also have a fascination with songs that mix both the pagan and Christianity.
This person chose to use "Eyes Wide Shut" for this song; I've never seen the movie, so I'm not sure about the connection. Regardless, this is a wonderful song and it really sets a mood.
In Legend, my favourite scene is when Lily dances—and then merges with—the black dress (duh). I have been in love with this song ever since the first time I saw that movie, back when I was 13.
I've been listening to Clannad for over 30 years; this song of theirs is my favourite. So haunting and lovely.
I adore this song; it's like a mix of Tam Lin and La Belle Dame Sans Merci.
I was privileged to see Jonny Cunningham live twice before he died; both times, he played this song for me (we had been drinking Guinness together in the bar earlier, and I asked him if he would perform this). I've also seen and met Phil a few times as well—both of those Scottish men were and are just lovely.
The Dragon Age series are my favourite video games of all time. Whenever I listen to this song, I think of Alistair and get all warm and fuzzy. Yes, I'm not ashamed to admit that I fell head-over-heels for a fictional character in a game.
