It's Random Video Time, so yay!

I love Celtic music to bits; I've been listening to it since I was a very small child. Silly Wizard is one of the legendary groups in the genre; brothers Phil (accordian and pipes) and Johnny (fiddle) Cunningham were two of the founding members. They went on to make albums together, with other musicians (Relativity, Nightnoise, The Raindogs), and on their own. Tragically, Johnny died in 2003 at the terribly young age of 46.

I was so very, very fortunate to see him play twice. Peterborough, NH, where I grew up, had a great bar/restaurant called The Folkway; a huge amount of varied musicians came through there to play. I was lucky enough to sit in the bar with Johnny both times he was there, drink Guinness, and laugh (and laugh. He was HILARIOUS). He even played my very favouritest song that he and his brother wrote, and dedicated it to me, which I will never forget.

This video is Johnny and Phil doing what they did best.

The Dandy Warhols are one of those bands that I will go see whenever they're in my immediate vicinity; I've probably seen them 20+ times since 1994. This song is one of my top five favourite songs ever, and the video is a wonderful Duran Duran tribute.

I am an unrepentant hair metal fan, and probably will be until the day I die. I had a huge crush on Nikki Sixx for a really long time (I seem to fall for bass players a lot).

This album was one of several that were on permanent repeat for me in 1994.

This Mortal Coil is one of the most criminally-underrated bands I know. Their covers were wonderful, as were the original songs; the group's rotating roster is an 80's/90's alternative music supergroup. This is one of my favourite covers—Elizabeth Fraser (of Cocteau Twins) has one of the most remarkable voices in music.
