Cosmetic Comic

I was in the local Ulta yesterday (it's like a Sephora, sells make up) and saw this out of the corner of my eye. It's from the makeup brand Benefit, a comic to sell one of their latest cosmetics staring Black Widow and Nick Fury. I'm confused.

I'm not sure how to react to this. On one hand, awesome, girls and comics and yay! On the other hand, it feels like just a really cheesy pandering "buy our makeup we're hip and Avengers!" play. I wasn't able to look inside the comic, they were all sealed and you got one free with the purchase of the $30 pore cream.

I'm a girl and I like comics, but this feels really hinky. I know other cosmetics companies have used comics and comic book characters (MAC, for example, made whole lines based on Wonder Woman and Archie Comics), so I'm not sure why this bothers me. I think maybe because the MAC Wonder Woman collection felt really interesting and respectful of the character, while this is just blatant advertising that poor Black Widow has been dragged into?
