The Guardian has reported the death of science humourist and chemist David Jones. A contributor to the New Scientist for around thirty years, his Daedalus column devised new technologies and scientific breakthroughs. There was always a snag, however, every advance was designed to fail before the end of the page. Never was failure such fun. The column later appeared in Nature.
