Dance The Seasons Away On This Week’s Face Off

KC’s Summer

On this week’s Face Off the two contestant effects shops must create the four seasons for a dance performance. Since one shop is starting the week with five members and the other with only three you know what’s going to happen first. Who will be the lords and ladies of the dance? Results ahead.

McKenzie Westmore meets the contestants at Descanso Gardens to introduce the next challenge (the musicians playing Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” are a clue). Each shop will create four characters, one for each season, who will perform a contemporary dance on the reveal stage. To even up the shops the judges have selected Andrew to go over to Twisted Six Effects so each shop has four people. Kiersten is automatically the foreman for Ethereal Effects since she’s the only member who hasn’t had the job yet. KC gets the foreman title this week for Twisted Six Effects which means Phil will have the job next week.

Travis Wall choreographs the dance and is a guest judge.

This week neither shop is declared a winner. This allows the judges to pick both top and bottom looks from each team.

Ethereal Effects’ seasons - Spring, Autumn, Winter, Summer
Kierstin’s Summer

Ethereal Effects doesn’t have a top look this time but they do have a bottom look. Kierstin’s Summer does not impress the judges at all.

Twisted Six Effects’ seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
Andrew’s Spring
Joseph’s Winter

Twisted Six Effects may not have won as a shop but they have both top looks. Andrew’s Spring is a lovely rose ballerina. KC thinks of Van Gogh’s work and creates a Summer that interprets that as well as the music. KC wins the challenge, the first foreman to do so. I’m glad KC finally got some recognition. She’s been doing decent work but hasn’t been acknowledged before because she was in the losing shop.

Twisted Six also has a bottom look with Joseph’s Winter. While Kiersten at least had a concept for her bottom look, Joseph never really nailed one down. That and the poor paint job lead the judges to eliminate Joseph this week.
