Digital Comics on the Cheap- 10/30/2015

It’s Halloween! That means lots of scary comics on the way!

Dark Horse Horror is up first!

Best Value: The Creepy and Eerie collections are over 50% off.

My Recommendation: The Mike Mignola books- Hellboy in Hell, Abe Sapien and Baltimore. If there’s any master of horror in comics, it’s Mignola. However, Dark Horse does a fabulous job in general with horror, so it may be a good time to try something new.

The Annual Marvel Zombies sale is on through the weekend!

Best Value: Marvel Zombies: Dead Days has the highest page count.

My Recommendation: I’m not a huge fan of this franchise, but it definitely got infinitely better when Machine Man was inserted into the story in Marvel Zombies 3. Also, the Marvel Zombies Halloween one-shot is actually a fun zombie story kind of unconnected to the Marvel Zombies universe, with a fantastic twist at the end.

DC’s Supergirl is on sale through Monday night!

Best Value: The collections, for sure.

My Recommendation: There are a few writers or artists that I will recommend unconditionally. Peter David is one of them, and his ENTIRE Supergirl run is included. The first arc (#1-9) is a fantastic story and the series is fabulous as a whole. Mark Waid is another, and his Supergirl & the Legion of Superheroes run is included as well. Also, the Sterling Gates/Jamal Igle run on the 2005 series (starting around issue #34 and pretty much running through the end of the series) is great, and Supergirl Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade is a fun all-ages book.

Dynamite’s Army of Darkness series is on sale through Monday night!

Best Value: Looks like the omnibus, but I might be doing my math wrong.

My Recommendation: Ash vs. Re-Animator. This is a more Lovecraftian Herbert West, but it’s an absolute blast of a story.

Also, Humble Books Bundle is running TWO comics sales this weekend- a massive amount of Top Cow and Army of Darkness books!

Go get them! Like, now!
