Doctor Who's Comic adventures to introduce Black and Hispanic companions

Titan's new runs of comics for the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors are starting up in a few months time, and the BBC have now revealed two new companions to join the Time Lords on their adventures - meet Gabby and Alice!

Joining the Eleventh Doctor's run, penned by Al Ewing and Rob Williams, Alice Obiefune meets The Doctor in unfortunate circumstances, in grief at the death of her Mother. Her adventures with The Doctor (seemingly set between the events of Series 5 and 6 judging by the BBC's comment of the comics being 'in the wake of the Second Big Bang) will feature amnesiac aliens, a trip back in time to the 1970's, and of course, being Doctor Who, a 'terrifying cosmic threat'. Just wouldn't be Doctor Who without terrifying cosmic threats, would it?

Meanwhile joining the Tenth Doctor in adventures set during the 'Specials' year after Series 4 will be young New Yorker Gabriella Gonzalez. Working in her parent's Laundromat, Gabby meets The Doctor during celebrations for the Day of The Dead. Jibbering on about psychic aliens, The Doctor's arrival lets Gabby go on an adventure she's always dreamt of. The opening 5 issue arc will be written by Nick Abadzis, with art by Elena Casagrande.

Titan's Doctor Who comics both go on sale July 23rd, with fabulous art from Alice X. Zhang gracing the covers of the first issues of each series. A third series featuring Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor will begin later this year.
