Illustration for article titled Fandom Aid for Typhoon Haiyan (and beyond)

It's a little bit early for me to be reading this, because it's making me cry (oh, who am I kidding? It's not the time of day...), but a branch of livejournal fandom has formalised their "Help XYZ" efforts in response to a large disaster. Go here to "trade" a donation for fanwork—clearly you don't need anything in return, but maybe you make fanwork and you'd like to participate? Maybe you'd like a picture or a story or a stuffed green pig or a fanvid? Anyway, if you claim an open offer and present proof of a donation to one of the listed charities, you get the work offered, often created at least partially to your spec.

I've participated only as a donor of funds in these, and had some amazing fanvids made for me, and even though I'd give anyway, I give anyway, it seems a...a community way to do it. So I thought I'd spread the word.
