Meet Graham. Because you didn’t want to sleep tonight anyway.

No, Graham’s not a character from a new Cremaster film. Graham is way more than just something you see out of the corner of your eye in a night terror a looker. He’s exactly how you’d need to be physically designed if you wanted to survive a car crash. So basically, an emaciated Sontaran.

Graham is a design project from the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria, Australia. The idea was to show how a person would need to be built in order to survive a wreck, and that includes:

  • No neck
  • A skull like a bike helmet
  • A flattened face
  • Shock-absorbing ribs that work like an air bag
  • Spring-loaded feet that are more like the hind legs of a dog or cat

The TAC’s Meet Graham website has some fascinating interactive breakdowns of each of his unique anatomical qualities. You can also find a quicker breakdown over at The Washington Post.
