Developed by Travis Beacham for the 2011-2012 season, the show Hieroglyph missed getting a pilot but now it has gotten an order for 13 episodes set to start filming in early 2014.

Produced by 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment, Hieroglyph, which is eyed for next season, is set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality intertwined. It follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah, navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers.

I am both a little excited and a bit afraid for this project. On one hand we could be getting more Xena like fun! On the other hand people like to white wash Egypt like with the upcoming movie Gods of Egypt. But Fox has been pretty great with Sleepy Hollow so far so that is somewhat encouraging.
