Adi Shankar, who did the solid Karl Urban Dredd movie, explains why sequel won't happen in today's market. Shankar's been busy lately with his bootleg franchise series, doing fan-films for Judge Dredd, James Bond, Punisher and Power/Rangers that look like they've been shot with real money and some surprising (Katee Sackhoff and Thomas Jane) star power.

Basically, it's not just the studio suits in Hollywood, but distributors can also derail a project in the pre-sell stage before the first scene is even shot.
