So there’s a few deals going on right now that are great in my opinion and I don’t know how lon they’ll last, thus the need to share them right now.
First up you can score the JayBird BlueBuds X Bluetooth Headphones for $109.99 from Massdrop.
I’ve mentioned these before, but they’re the exact same headphones I use with my phone and they’re amazing! You’re talking hour charge times (if that) and easily can get you through the work day (standard business hours work day that is). They come with a case designed to store both the headphones and the no-tangle charger that comes with them. They also come with quite a few ear buds in various sizes to ensure a decent fit no matter the ear. They’re also “waterproof” but don’t go jumping into the pool with them. I’ve yet to accidentally dunk them myself but that’s my general rule on anything “waterproof”. “Caught in the rain? You’re good. Jumping into the pool with it? You’re on your own if it fucks up.”
I should add two things.
1. These headphones new from the official site go for $169.95. I think I paid over $200+ for them when I got them about two years ago at Best Buy and that was including taxes and 2 years additional coverage via a protection plan. (I buy protection plans only for certain devices that I use every day and where it’s possible I might screw them up somehow. So headphones and my phone are basically the only two things I do that with.)
2. Massdrop has an interesting way of pricing things. The more people who buy the better deals they get since they buy in bulk from whatever company is making the product they’re offering. So those prices you see in the screenshot are the headphone’s price as it goes down. The more buyers the better the deal, so it could go down even further throughout the day.
You can also score a new Nexus 9 32 GB model from eBay for $350!
Although for some reason though when I click the link I see the price as $379.99. So I’m not sure what’s up with that. For reference: Nexus 9 32 GB via Google’s Store is $479. Best Buy has it for $455.99 (although they do price matching, so you might be able to print out the eBay page, take the link too just in case, and can get the same price in store or at least try to). Amazon has it for $389.95, which is somewhat of a deal.
As for the tablet itself, well, I’ve written about it before. My mom still loves her the same way she does when she first got it. It’s noticeably bigger than the Nexus 7 (either year’s model) but significantly smaller than the Nexus 10, which never received a refresh and that’s a damn shame. I feel like it’s in the “just right” spot for tablets. Not too small, not too big. Perfect for media consumption (watching movies/shows, reading comics, etc.) and even for work (writing lengthy emails or docs via Google Drive). Honestly, I’m not even sure why I haven’t picked one up for myself yet. I love messing with it when my mom leaves it in my possession so I can “update it, cause it needs an update” or something along those lines of the various reasons she gives me to “fix this”.
And last but definitely not least is the “Back to School” Alcatel bundle, which for $299.99 gets you an Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 and Alcatel Onetouch Watch.
Honestly, I’m more intrigued by the Watch than the phone. Although the phone itself is definitely worth buying in my opinion. That watch looks sleek as hell!
I couldn’t do enough justice to the device, so just head over to it’s product page on Alcaltel to fully read up on it.
It’s a smartwatch, but it’s not an Android Wear device.
Seriously, look at all that! Damn thing looks freaking awesome as is! Dare I even say it, it looks just as good as the Moto 360. (Motorola, please note that if you see this somehow I did not say it looks better than the Moto 360. It looks just as good. Don’t preemptively hate me and put my name on a “do not let him buy the Moto X (3rd Gen.)“ list. I still love you! You’re the only one for me.)
The watch itself normally retails for $150, so given the promotion and the normal price of the phone (which is $250) you’re basically paying $50 to get a smartwatch and one that is definitely a looker at that. That’s a helluva good deal.
As for the phone itself, if you’re not already slightly familiar with it then check out Android Police’s review of it. Or put in a much more friendly tl;dr format: It’s an amazing 5.5” phone and how the heck is it only costing us $250?!
So that’s all I got for you all today. A few pretty good deals. Do with the knowledge what you will. I can vouch for the awesomeness of only the first two products (the headphones and the Nexus).
