Friendly Notice - Android - Near Universal Root and Stargate (game) sale

First and foremost for you kids today is Towelroot. This has been put together by the (in)famous Geohot. The aim of this was to root the Verizon and AT&T Galaxy S5 and Note 3, two of the more notorious devices out there. In point of fact, until last night the S5 on both carriers for sure had never even come close to seeing root.

That is the case no more!

If you are even remotely interested in rooting your device by all means proceed to this page here and click that upside down and backwards y you see there and download the apk. Once it's downloaded you'll need to install it. Once you've done that run the app, click "make it ra1n" and it'll do it's thing. That's it. Could not be any easier.

And before you think "I don't have a Verizon/AT&T S5 or Note 3" keep in mind this apk/method of achieving root will work on almost any Android device. As long as it is NOT on 4.4.3, so if you're phone is running Kit Kat 4.4.2 or lower then you are good and can give this a try.

The only exceptions to the "it can likely root anything" rule are Motorola and HTC phones, that's largely due to the fact that /system is write protected. Of course your Motorola/HTC device could be the exception to the rule. The usual XDA method of "why don't you try it instead of asking others and then report back on what you find" applies.

Just keep in mind that old hard and fast XDA bit of advice, "Your mileage may vary."

I honestly have no issue recommending this to anyone even remotely interested in rooting their device. However, assuming you do root your device, before you go and start doing anything crazy I highly recommend if you're unfamiliar with root and all you can do with it you come back here and ask me, "Now what?" I'd rather take the time to ask you what you want to do and inform you of how to go about doing this or that then have to deal with people panicking and saying "I think I broke something". It happens and dealing with panicked people is never fun.

In other news, I've got something fun for all you Android users out there who like Stargate.

Stargate SG-1: Unleashed Ep. 1 is currently on sale!

Normally it goes for $4.99, but today it is discounted to $1.99. You honestly can't beat that price, it's also a really fun game. I bought it when it debuted and I randomly go back and play it.

And yes, what you see there is some of the actual game play. This isn't one of those games where what you see in the trailer isn't what you get once you play, what you see is very much what you get.

Did I mention all the original actors have reprised their roles for the game? No, I don't mean Col. O'Neill is the same character and they didn't make a new one specifically for the game. I mean Richard Dean Anderson is doing the voice for Col. Jack O'Neill, Amanda Tapping is doing the voice for Samantha Carter and so on and so forth!

It's honestly freaking sweet and it's another way to enjoy some time with these characters a great many of us love and basically grew up with.

So be sure to check it out, there are worse ways to spend two bucks.

That's all I have for you today. Like I said, if you want root go get that apk and then come back here and ask me "what next" if you're so inclined. I highly recommend doing so ASAP (as in right the fuck now), because it's a certainty that Verizon and AT&T will close the exploit as soon as is humanly possible for them. Which is a bit funny. They won't update the OS versions on their devices in anything even remotely resembling a reasonable time frame, but the minute someone finds a way to gain some freedom on said devices they move faster than The Flash to shut that down. So seriously, root your device while you can if you're even remotely interested in doing so because otherwise you might never be able to do so again. (At least on those Verizon and AT&T devices that this apk works on, the rest of you are safe.)
