Geek Star Coming Out

Part 2 in my potentially infinite series of looking at queer geek stars! This week we focus on someone who has been out for awhile! Michelle Rodriguez the amazingly badass but unfortunately death prone (in films) actress! And she has been in so many geeky films (Resident Evil, Avatar, Battle: Los Angeles, etc) as well as voice acted in the great IGPX animated series.

Rodriguez has always been opposed to labeling her sexuality and criticized the magazine Curve for an article calling her bisexual in 2006. Calling out some of the barriers queer actors could face.

"There are certain things that can close doors between a celebrity and certain audiences," she told Curve magazine. "If I were Ellen [DeGeneres] I may get away with the 'I'm gay' level of exposure, but I'm not a comedian, I like men (real ones anyway) and I've only been in this business for seven years, not 20."

Though in Entertainment Weekly in 2013 she would say, "I've gone both ways. I do as I please. I am too fucking curious to sit here and not try when I can. Men are intriguing. So are chicks."

Michelle Rodriguez has always been rumored to be dating her various co-stars, men and women, but she made big news recently when her and supermodel Cara Delevingne came out about being in a relationship.
