In the past couple months, Google has moved first logged-in users, then everybody to "encrypted search".

This means that my webstats can't see the search terms that someone is looking for. I can, however, see:

  • Host Name
  • IP Address
  • Location
  • Operating System
  • Browser
  • Monitor Resolution
  • Javascript Status
  • Returning Visits
  • Visit Length

Basically... everything I need to identify the individual. But not the one bit of information that is actually of value to me—what they were looking for when they came to my website.

Exactly how does this protect the user?
